ABOUT JEWELRY BECAUSE
Back in 2011, on the streets of NYC, Jewelry Because's founder, Sarah Auerbach, started making and selling jewelry to raise funding for some community projects she believes were important- things like art in schools and urban farms in the Bronx.
In July of 2016 Sarah became a single mom. Realizing she was living in an abusive situation, she took her two sons and fled to a domestic violence shelter in upstate New York. This Gift Club was born as a thank you to the handful of strangers that helped her get her children to safety. Nearly two years later, Sarah and her children live in a cute little cabin in the woods. It's peaceful, and the kids are getting so big!
Sarah is sending one of these black rose earrings to all the people that donated to her paypal account in the short days prior to when she left as a thank you gift on the 2 year anniversary to freedom. They are made of carved mother of pearl shell and sterling silver. Should the recipients want to continue to support Sarah and her family, they may join the club.
As a thank you to the domestic violence shelter that helped Sarah get back on her feet and provided a fun and safe environment for her children, Sarah will donate 25% of all proceeds from this site to the Citizens Action Chapter that manages and maintains the shelter she stayed at. For safety, the particular name of the shelter can't be shared, but we are working on a shelter directory for the site as a resource to women in need of help getting out of abusive relationships.
Thank you for visiting. Please join our club and let us create some beautiful gifts for you!
